However I usually felt there was no inner peace within. Like there was somewhere else to go. A perception of ‘this is not it’. Perhaps you are able to relate? So I tried to work even more up the ladder. Purchased the things I assumed could be ‘it’. The large display Tv. Lived in the nice apartment beside the seaside. The nightclubs. The parties. I am sure you realize the all familiar story. Totally immersed within the hustle and bustle of the city lifestyle and caught inside the rat race.

There’s nothing wrong with that but I had misplaced my perception of peace and calm I discovered within the bush. I had misplaced the perception of link I knew growing up. I knew I wasn’t becoming who I knew it had been I am.

So I left all of it back in the cities and again totally immersed myself in nature once more to listen to my gentle mild voice within. To regain the link with he wilderness again. Listening to her delicate messages. My outer lifestyle a reflection of my internal world once more.

And that’s why I’m creating these phrases you’re reading right now. I’ve listened to nature and her wisdom and this is what I am on the world to do. She is guiding me to re-connect individuals with the land. To re-member who they really are. To find their authentic nature in the wilderness.

I will allow you in on a key I’ve learnt from nature. A secret she confirmed with me so profound that it has shifted the entire program of my lifestyle.

Back many years ago when i was 20 years of age I took a year off from University. I needed to take time out to remove myself from the distractions of society and reconnect with my authentic nature. I did this by primarily living in camping grounds and National Parks up and down the East coast of Australia. A complete year immersed inside the wilderness.

Following a couple of months I invested about two weeks on my own by a deserted beach immersed in a National Park around the South coast of New South Wales. For two weeks I didn’t see a solitary human being. Just the sea eagles, the fish, the trees, the clouds, the ocean, the seaside and also the wallabies. Completely immersed inside nature.

Every day I would drop into my organic rhythm. I would wake when it felt time to wake. I would consume when it felt correct to consume. And I would surf when it felt right to surf.

1 morning I felt the pull to walk alongside the seaside. Judging by the sunlight it was about mid-morning and I was then walking bare foot on the sand. I don’t understand what occurred but next I felt the pull to bend down and gather up some grains of sand. I was completely engrossed within the tiny grains of sand around the end of my index finger. I could see how each grain of sand was a different form compared to the one beside it. Every grain was a slightly different size. Different colours, different textures, different feeling. Each grain a person.

Living within the wilderness allows you to drop into a sense of inner peace and to discover your authentic self in the wilderness.

This experience of becoming every thing all at the same time whilst on a vision quest lasted for around 3 weeks. Then I slowly returned to what I call ‘ordinary reality’. I remembered speaking to a friend about it at that time. He stated ‘Wow, that seems incredible!’ but I remember just telling him how regular and all-natural it felt. Such as this is the normal way we are meant to encounter the planet.

Since that experience I’ve been on a 15 year quest. A quest to know ‘what happened’. A quest to find ways of accessing that state of ‘non-ordinary reality’ at will. This quest has taken me to live with magic males within the tropical jungles of Indonesia. To Native American Indians in the USA. And Aboriginal old people in Australia.

But mostly this quest has taken me into nature. Into aged natural forests. On the top of snow-capped mountain peaks. Beside rugged wind-swept coasts. Within the craters of volcanoes. Beside raging waterfalls. For in my experience the simplest means of accessing this state occurs on your own by immersing yourself within the wonder and mystery of nature. Finding and experiencing your true nature in nature.

After accessing this state hundreds of occurances I now understand how to get access to it at will. While driving my car. Whilst walking in supermarkets. While talking with friends. Like nature, this state is always there awaiting you to return. We can all access the world past the 1 we know.

The simplest way I’ve found is to totally let go of tension in both the body and mind. Completely let go of thoughts as they arrive and enter right into a state of innocence and no-mind. Then to consciously slow everything down – to see the world like viewing a movie in slow-motion. Just being in every second. Sensing each minute. Turning up each of one’s 5x senses in every second. Then to put your awareness on and go with the subtle pull of your life force that constantly directs you.

In my experience these would be the circumstances that allow the world beyond what we know to naturally arise… calm, no-mind, heightened senses in each moment and permitting the pull of your heart to guide you. In psychology terms I guess this drops me in to the ‘theta’ and ‘delta’ brain wave states whereupon the dream state happens. Perhaps that is why Aboriginals say that stepping into the spirit realm is the same as ‘dreaming’ and ‘the dreamtime’.

Creativeness, the language of the soul all of a sudden awakens. The language past the phrases we frequently use. The signs and symbols from nature talk loudly. The subtle voice inside turns loud. The force past speaks directly whilst inside this state. Tapping straight in to the wonder and mystery of nature. No sense of separation. Connection is all there is.
